Programme for Friday 10th July 2009 11 am : Official opening of “75Hours for 75 Years” which ends on Monday 13th July at 2.00 pm. At the same time, the Artois Expo Exhibition Centre, situated a few minutes from the centre of Arras, will open to the public together with the “75 Hours for 75 Years” in the exhibition centre square. There will be a snack bar and small café etc. Inside and outside the hall, a big market - mostly dedicated to Citroën and specifically to the Traction - will open. As well as private sellers, you will also find spare parts from dealers from several countries. Also at 11.00 am, the display of 75 exceptional Tractions covering an area of 5,500 square yards will open: two 15/6 presidential cars, custom bodied cars etc. The official shop will also be open where you will find all your essential souvenirs: polo shirts, caps, posters, key fobs, postcards etc. all at bargain prices. You can obtain your welcome packs at the Registration Desk at Artois Expo which will be open all afternoon. The official opening near the belfry in the Place des Héros will take place at 6.00 pm in the presence of the Mayor of Arras . The grand garden party will start at 7.00 pm at the Pré Fleuri Restaurant where more than 1500 Tractionists are expected. A free shuttle service will be available from various locations during whole event. Programme for Saturday 11th July 2009 “75 Hours for 75 Years” will open its doors at the Artois Expo from 9.00 am until 6.00 pm, including the markets (inside and outside), museum, official shop, snack bar etc. You will have the opportunity to attend three exceptional lectures by well-known Traction Avant historians – Jon Pressnell (in English), Jérôme Collignon and Olivier de Serres (in French). In the Grand’ Place in Arras during the morning don’t miss the market! It’s certainly one of the best north of Paris. You are bound to come across the Lecot Traction, driven by one of sixty five drivers chosen at random, in its endurance challenge – 75 hours non-stop on bio-fuel! After strolling round the wonderful Arras squares, come and see the fashion parade where those going to the gala dinner will display clothes from the year of their Tractions. Then come along - if you have booked – to the gala dinner in costume dress at the Pré Fleuri Restaurant from 8.00 pm, where we will bring together the 450 guests.
Programme for Sunday 12th July 2009 Saturday’s activities at the Artois Expo will continue during Sunday – the market, the museum, the shop etc. – as well as in the heart of the town. From 10.00 am until 1.00 pm the “Traction Baptism” will be organised by our friends the Traction Owners Club of Great Britain from the snack bar in the Grand’ Place. A small donation will be requested in aid of the “Restos du Coeur”. From 4.00 pm in both squares, the Grand Parade will take place alternating with tableaux representing Traction history since 1934, together with traditional giants and musical groups. The whole event will be commentated on by well-known compères – Dominique Bellière and Olivier de Serres. At the start of the parade we will deservedly welcome the Lecot Traction which will have finished its endurance trial a short time before. Finally the participants of the Paris-Moscow-Paris run will be presented with a present for the Mayor of Moscow from the Mayor of Arras. On this third and last evening there will be another celebration called “The Festival of the Chinese Lanterns” from 7.30 pm, taking place as you may have guessed at the Pré Fleuri Restaurant.

Amazing! – Even the Welcome Bag is novel. Who remembers Tractionnella? A character drawn by Walthéry (Natacha) for Citroën during the ‘50s! Now, with Walthéry’s permission she has been resurrected to create a unique canvas Welcome Bag for the “75 Heures”.
But, what other surprises will you find in the bag? |
